2007 COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION


•    Provides an interactive forum for U.S. and Japanese businesses and organizations that are in any way related to development, construction, engineering and design, as well as for individuals that have an interest in these businesses and activities. ACE functions as a proactive point of contact among member companies, U.S. and Japanese government agencies, and the Japanese business community.

2007 COMMITTEE OBJECTIVES


•    Design and implement programs to facilitate networking opportunities within the committee and among other committees that have similar interests.
•    Expand knowledge base of members by discussing general industry issues and specific situations at regular programs and closed committee meetings.
•    Expand committee membership to include broader spectrum of related industries, thereby improving networking, information sharing and learning opportunities for members.
•    Identify and support advocacy issues that are of concern to the committee members.

2007 ACHIEVEMENTS
Advocacy

•    Met and exchanged information with 2 Diet Members on Diet Doorknock in October

Speaker Programs & Networking

•    Design Engergy-Savings And Safety in Buildings, Albert Abut, President, Atlantis Aassociates., and Phlippe Valery, Architectural Project Director, Saint-Gobain Hanglas including a tour of Saint-Gobain Building.
•    The Tokyo Midtown, Toshihide Ichikawa, President, Tokyo Midtown Management Co., Ltd. and reception sponsored by Oakwood Premier.
•    Masterplanning The First Pedestrian-Friendly, Low Carbon Eco-City in China, Jeremy Watson, Director of Global Research, ARUP.
•    An Evening With Le Corbusier At Mori Museum, Fumio Nanjo, Director, Mori Art Museum.
•    The Real Estate Business And The Impact Of Environmental Law, Kevin Carroll, Director, Earth Appraisal Co., Ltd., Michael Evans, Managing Director, AMB Property Corp., Hideo Ohta, Int’l Partner, Baker & McKenzie GJBJ (Tokyo Aoyama Aoki Koma Law Office). Graham Lane, Managing Director, ERM Japan Ltd. (Facilitator)

Additional Comments:
We wish to continue to provide events that are not only speaker events, but show and tell types of events that allow our members to experience new innovations in the field as well as see past accomplishments as was done with the Le Corbusier event at the Mori Museum.
