2008 Committee Description
The Toiletry, Cosmetic and Fragrance Committee is focused on recommending and facilitating global best practices that benefits consumer and industry.
2008 Committee Objectives
- Advocate regulations that allow consumers to: 1) have access to latest innovated product without unnecessary cost and risks; 2) make an informed choice.
- Work toward international cooperation on the regulation of cosmetics products.
2008 Achievements
Advocacy
- Increased the transparency and efficiency of the quasi-drug approval process by getting MHLW to publish a list of additives (inactive ingredients) including their levels that have been approved in previous quasi-drug applications.
- Increased the transparency of the quasi-drug and cosmetic regulatory systems by getting MHLW to work with industry, including U.S. industry, to attend a meeting to exchange views after Local Advertisement Controller's Meeting (Rokushakyo).
