The University Briefing Committee (UBC) organizes Q&A sessions to support students, educators and academic groups in learning about doing business in Asia directly from ACCJ members who live and work in Japan.
Held at a central Tokyo hotel selected by the group, the format of the meeting is casual and based on an American-style early morning breakfast.
The content of each 1.5 hour session is adapted to fit the group's expressed areas of interests.
Committee Objectives:
* Inform visiting educational and academic groups about current trends in economic, political, consumer and related fields.
* Promote membership in the ACCJ to students, university professors and other educators by mentioning the value in ACCJ's individual and nonresident membership categories.
* Provide ACCJ members with a volunteer experience opportunity. Members with expertise in areas of interest of the incoming group are contacted.
* In a period in which other Asian countries are gaining more attention, the sessions are an opportunity to emphasize, in context, Japan's economic role in the Asia region and its contribution to global innovation in products and services.
Examples of groups given presentations in the past 12 months:
Southern Methodist University (Dallas TX), Curtin University (Australia), Bentley University (Waltham MA), Augustana College (Rock Island IL), Lewis College (Chicago, IL).
