2007 COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION
Animal Health Sub-Committee (AH-SC) belongs to Food and Agriculture Committee of ACCJ. The AH-SC provides a venue for addressing and solving issues relating regulations and sales & marketing of animal health products for livestock animals and companion animals in Japan.
2007 COMMITTEE OBJECTIVES
• To address and resolve high priority issues relating to AH business in Japan with collective power.
• To share information & learning on Japanese market, AH business and governmental issues.
2007 ACHIEVEMENTS
Advocacy
Requests of improvement actions based on IAFH benchmarking report under the initiative of Japan Veterinary Products Association (JVPA). ACCJ AH-SC and EBC AHC members took actions on this report as follows;
• The membes worked with JVPA for Japanese tranlation of the report.
• Task team members developed a draft of the industry requests on improvement actions to MAFF.
• Participated to following meetings as members of JVPA:
1) MAFF meeting on August 8th
2) Meeting with Dr. Jones of International Federation of Animal Health (IFAH) and
MAFF on October 16th
Speaker Programs & Networking
AH-SC meetings were held as follows:
• January 26 (with EBC-AHC)
• May 16 (with EBC-AHC)
• Task-force meetings on IFAH reports: several times in 2-3Q (with selected EBC-AHC members)

Information sharing and industry event participation
• Industry key issues were shared on following
VICH, Codex meeting, key regulation changes, animal walfare,
• Participation on key events of JVPA
Additional Comments:
Our members have agreed to disband ACCJ AH-SC and will work as an independent group from 2008 and on.
