2007 COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION
It is the Sub-committee under MRC exclusively engaged in membership expansion activities.
2007 COMMITTEE OBJECTIVES
• Research and select worthy US, international and Japanese companies who had no intention of joining the ACCJ using Toyo Keizai Directory and MESC
member's network
• Selected 140 candidate companies with focus on retail and IT industries.
• Established action plans to recruit 30 new CMP members over and above the normal membership increase.
2007 ACHIEVEMENTS
Advocacy
• Succeeded in recruiting major retail compnies such as Coach, Tiffany, Coors,
• and succeeded in finding the leadership to form " Retail Committee" to deal
• with the issues facing American retail busuness.
• Planning to invite all ACCJ retail members to join a preparatory meeting scheduled
• in mid January, 2008. Planning to use this as an effective tool to further recruit well-known retail companies.
• By early December, recruited 11 CMP, 3 CMA, 5 AM, and 2 upgraded to CM from AM and NR A few additional candidates remain very near-term member prospects
Speaker Programs & Networking
• Monthly meetings Met 12 times.
• Petit Greet in November. 32 members and 15 guests joined. Resulted in 3 new
• members.
Additional Comments:
All MESC members are highly appreciative of the great support provided by Aki Watanuki without which it would not have achieved the result reported above.
MESC proved that an well organized recruiting work based on research and the member network is very important in sutaining membership expansion by bringing in worthy companies who had no intention of joinning the ACCJ.
