Akiko Naka is the founder of Wantedly, Inc., Japan’s largest social recruiting service. One of the principle goals of Wantedly is to help change the corporate culture in Japan and contribute to a world where “people are excited about their work.”
First, Akiko will talk about how she came up with that extraordinary company name—Wantedly. Then, she’ll jump right into why and how she started the company at the age of 26, how the company uniquely operates, and how Wantedly’s team has managed to come this far (one million monthly active users and 16 thousand companies actively using their service). Since its founding in 2012, Wantedly has successfully dipped into the capital market three times, keeping the company on an ever-rising trajectory.
After spending a year in the United States, and three years in New Zealand during her high school days, she returned to Japan and graduated from Kyoto University with a B.A. in Economics. She joined Goldman Sachs soon thereafter. Through a chance meeting at an industry event, she joined Facebook just as it was getting off the ground here in Japan. Building on those two experiences, she launched Wantedly, Inc. in 2012.
Join us to be inspired by her efforts to make something from nothing—establishing a new company that is aimed squarely at helping you find a workplace so exciting that you can’t wait to go to sleep each night in anticipation of that great day that lies ahead.
