Mr. Kohzoh Takaoka President and CEO of Nestlé Japan and author of numerous literature, including his recent book “21st Century Marketing: Digitalization and Transformation through Innovation” coauthored with Prof. Philip Kotler and Dr. Mark Opresnik, will begin by sharing his insights of the recent consumer trends in Japan and how the retail environment in Japan has changed over the years and areas of opportunities in the future.
Mr. Takaoka is a 30 year veteran of Nestlé Japan, starting his career in sales and marketing in beverage such as NESCAFÉ and other categories before joining their confectionery company, where he became president in 2005. It is in this company that he turned the KITKAT brand into the leading chocolate candy bar in Japan by making it into the lucky charm for students taking entrance exams and by coming up with limited edition and local flavors like green tea, soy sauce and wasabi, turning the brand into one of the top souvenirs for domestic travelers.
In 2010 January, he was promoted to the Representative Director & Executive Vice President, Beverage Business Group, Nestlé Japan Ltd and that November been the Representative Director, President and CEO, Nestlé Japan Ltd.
Mr. Takaoka is also a champion in addressing customers’unconscious problems to create innovations, and implementing training to strengthen this ability through their Innovation Awards program.
Prof. Kotler admires his professionalism as a marketer and he was selected as one of 37 Internationalists in the world for his outstanding marketing by US magazine “The Internationalist” in 2014.
