The Subcommittee promotes greater awareness about the importance and relevance of alternative investments (AI) to investors in Japan by organizing educational programs featuring global AI leaders. Through its education and advocacy activities, the Subcommittee serves existing and prospective members of the ACCJ that invest in, or are interested in investing in, AI asset classes including through venture capital, commodities, real estate, infrastructure investments, timberland investments, intellectual property (e.g. motion pictures, photographic images, software assets, etc.), art and historical documents, managed futures, private equity, hedge fund and other strategies. The Subcommittee also addresses topics of importance to investors in Japan such as ESG investing, ethical and corporate governance, investments in emerging markets through traditional and AI strategies as well as ‘Passion Investments’ (such as fine art, whiskey and wine funds and other collectibles).
