The newly reorganized Banking, Finance and Capital Markets Committee follows developments in Japan's financial services industry, with a focus on commercial and investment banking, non-bank finance and capital markets. The Committee aims to achieve synergy by a holistic approach to financial services issues while also reflecting deep expertise in the various sectors. The committee serves its members by acting as a clearinghouse for information on financial services regulations and market developments across each sector. It advocates on behalf of its members by issuing Viewpoints and Public Comments, and taking its message directly to the Japanese government, regulatory agencies and politicians and coordinates its advocacy with other industry associations in Japan, and with US Government agencies. The Committee also reaches out to regional and multilateral organizations to participate in broader regulatory reform processes at the regional and global level.
