The ACCJ is fielding a team to support the effort by Tokyo to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

The mission of the team, which would take the form of an ACCJ Task Force, given the short duration and intensive activities planned, is as follows:

1. Provide supportive statements and advocacy vis-a-vis relevant U.S., Japanese and/or international stakeholders, including foreign embassies in Japan. This may include issuing “viewpoints” and/or other short policy papers, to offer the ACCJ’s support and key reasons why Tokyo should be chosen.

2. Generate positive goodwill among Japan’s political and business leaders for our broader Japanese advocacy efforts by offering support for the Tokyo 2020 bid.

3. Hold special events regularly, perhaps in collaboration with other foreign chambers and other organizations, around the Olympics bid, sports figures, sports business, etc. to drum up excitement among members and others leading up to the September announcement of the decision.
