general meeting to discuss two important topics:
1. It has only been about 90 days, the equivalent of one business
quarter, since the Tohoku disaster. While we may feel as though normalcy
has return for those of us living and doing business in Japan, could
there be economic aftershocks for us in the near future? We will be
discussing the affects of the Tohoku disaster in terms of Japan's
relationship with countries in Asia, and vice versa. From this
discussion, the objective is to identify important topics that will
provide perspective on future direction in the Asia Pacific region for
speaking events during the second half of 2011.
2. Review the situation with regards to the Trans-Pacific Partnership
and Japan's possible participation. While the politicians argue over
whose turn it is to be Prime Minister, etc., others in Japan see the TTP
as an important step to involving Japan more deeply in the future
economic growth of the Asia Pacific region.
We would also like to encourage our new committee members to join us so
we can hear your thoughts and ideas.
