Recent advances in genomics and transcriptomics, including those of the Functional Annotation of the Mammalian Genome (FANTOM) and the Encyclopedia of DNA Elements (ENCODE) consortia, have radically changed our understanding of the function of the genome. The accelerating pace of biological discovery is opening new opportunities for breakthrough drugs, diagnostics, and other applications. Join us to hear Dr. Piero Carninci, one of the minds at the forefront of the RNA revolution, speak about the growing number of application of these non-coding RNAs in biotechnology. What are the trends in genomics and transcriptomics? What business opportunities are likely to substantially affect health, health-related businesses, and society?
Dr. Carninci, a leader at RIKEN's Omics Science Center in Yokohama, has authored more than 180 scientific papers and book chapters. He already has been involved in the spinoff of basic discoveries to the private sector and is developing more collaborations to facilitate the commercialization of new discoveries. For those interested in biotechnology, biosciences and related businesses, this is a perfect opportunity to network as well as to learn about the state of the art and to speak with a leader of the RNA revolution.
