One in three Japanese people experience cancer in his/her lifetime. However, patients diagnosed with cancer are facing difficult experiences in regard to employment, such as resignation, transfer to other work and decrease in total income. On the other hand, cancer patients need to take care of the increased medical costs for their cancer treatment. This is a serious problem for those who live with cancer. Ms. Naomi Sakurai, who is a breast cancer survivor herself, will raise this issue as a discussion topic for the seminar and discuss what we should think about and how we should cope with this issue. She will share the results of the survey she recently conducted of working generation Japanese cancer patients. Naomi Sakurai: Born in 1967 President of Cancer Solutions, Chairman of the Board of the HOPE Project (NPO), Chairman of the Board of the CSR Project Diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2004. Joined the Healthcare and Social Policy Leadership Program at Tokyo University in 2007.
