Arguably Japan's leading female artist, Toko Shinoda turns 100 this year and the ACCJ is proud to present a special event offering a rare chance to learn about her works and life contribution directly from her representative for 35 years, Mr. Norman Tolman of the Tolman Collection.
Thanks to deep ties with the ACCJ -- Shinoda Sensei did a commission for the Chamber's 50th anniversary and her works grace the foyers of many American firms in Tokyo, not to mention the beautiful print we see each time we visit the ACCJ office -- Mr. Tolman will host a special networking luncheon event featuring an educational tour of Shinoda Sensei's work currently on exhibition at the Musee Tomo (Kikuchi Museum) until May 26.
Beginning at noon, ACCJ members can enjoy a networking lunch at the museum's restaurant and then tour the exhibition with Mr. Tolman as he provides the stories and meaning behind each piece. As noted in a 1983 Time Magazine interview, "Her trail-blazing accomplishments are analogous to Picasso's."
We hope you will join us in celebrating "Toko Shinoda - A Lifetime of Accomplishment."
