Mari Nogami Named ACCJ Leader of the Year for 2011 (Kansai)
It was announced on May 7, 2012 that Kansai member Mari Nogami had been named ACCJ Leader of the Year for 2011. Mari has served as the Chair of the Kansai Women in Business Committee (WIBC) since its inception in 2008. Under her leadership, the WIBC established new events in the areas of Diversity and Global Leadership.
WIBC events are now an indispensable part of the Kansai Chapter's overall strategy of adding value to membership. The 2011 Leadership Series events, in which Mari took the lead role planning, were especially effective in getting Corporate Sustaining members to participate and learn more about ACCJ's activities, and took ACCJ-Kansai programs to a higher level, thus enhancing the ACCJ’s image in the Kansai international business community. Mari's leadership of the Kansai WIBC has now been mirrored by the Chubu WIBC, which started in 2011. In addition, Mari has been a key leader and organizer of the ACCJ-Kansai Walk-a-thon for a number of years, and in 2011 in particular, she showed great initiative and leadership by investing a great deal of time, effort and professional skill in ensuring that the 2011 ACCJ-Kansai Walk-a-thon was one of the most successful ever. In connection therewith, it was Mari’s idea for ACCJ-Kansai to invite and sponsor Tohoku evacuees to this year’s ACCJ-Kansai Walk-a-thon, a gesture which was greatly appreciated by the evacuees and created a great deal of goodwill for the ACCJ.
