The ACCJ-Kansai Presents: Business Lessons in Service and Professionalism from the Traditional World of the Kyoto Maiko & Geiko
Dr. Kumiko Nishio, Associate Professor at Kyoto Women's University, unveiled the mystery behind the traditional world of the Kyoto Maiko and Geiko from the standpoint of business management.
Her presentation was a rare opportunity to learn about the nearly 400 year old traditional business practices in Kyoto. Kumiko Nishio was born in Kyoto, and her family have been rice merchants for generations. She has a doctorate in business management from Kobe University, and is one of the few researchers who has studied the traditional world of the Kyoto Geiko from the standpoint of business management. Her research took 5 years to complete and includes a video presentation.
