Featured Committee: The Newly Formed Mobility Manufacturing Committee Revs Up and Hits the Ground Running

Founded just a few months ago, the ACCJ Chubu Mobility Manufacturing Committee is already having a positive impact and adding value for ACCJ members.

In the coming years, we will see a shift in how people move from place to place, with the lines between once clearly different transportation segments blurring. Whether this be a flying car or an electric vehicle that powers a home, the future of mobility is sure to be quite different from what we are accustomed to.

The Mobility Manufacturing Committee (MMC) was founded to give its members a chance to network and share ideas on topics of mutual interest. More and more, collaboration will be important in business.
A primary goal was to create a forum that is both focused and inclusive, and gives members from the wide ranging fields of creating goods and services that help people move from place to place an opportunity to come together.

The committee also looks to be a bridge between the American, Japanese, and other foreign mobility related companies, as well as give ACCJ members a chance to reach out to the public and each other and explain what they do.

To that end, the MMC was very pleased to have been invited by the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun to have a block of booth space at their recent Smart Grid Expo and Automotive NEXT Industry Fair 2012 held May 30 to June 1 at the Tokyo Big Sight.

ACCJ member companies relevant to Mobility Manufacturing were invited to participate and were given free booth space and a significant discount on decoration costs. Participants were GM Japan, Dana Japan LTD, TÜV Rheinland, the State of Indiana, and Scuderi Engine. The ACCJ also had a promotional table, staffed by Noriko Kato of ACCJ Chubu. All participants felt it was a worthwhile event, and the MMC is looking forward to providing similar value-added opportunities in the future.

The MMC is also looking to provide a forum for smaller Japanese manufacturers who may be interested in learning more about various aspects of doing business internationally, especially in light of Japan’s potential future participation in the TPP. We will look to work to bring in speakers, and have plans to co-host events with other committees.

Members of the MMC come from various fields, and all over Japan.
Anyone interested in more information regarding MMC membership is invited to contact the ACCJ Chubu office.
