Steve Jobs often talked about changing the world, and he did change the world in his short 56 years on this planet. His incredible dedication to detail and to simplicity and aesthetics raised the bar for technology, business, and design, and beyond. He even raised the bar for what constitutes an effective keynote presentation. Much has been written about Steve Jobs and his incredible accomplishments in the business world, but besides making for interesting reading, are there really any practical lessons in leadership and management that we can take away from examining the career and words from Steve Jobs?
Our speaker says there are. Professor Garr Reynolds is a long-time follower of Apple and Steve Jobs and spent the early part of this millennium working as a marketing manager at the Apple, Inc. head office in Cupertino, California. In this interactive presentation and discussion Garr will share over twenty practical lessons in leadership, management, and innovation learned from working at Apple and researching the life and career of Steve Jobs. An award-winning writer and designer, Garr was at one time the manager of Worldwide User Group Relations at Apple Inc. in Silicon Valley, and is currently Professor of management at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka. Garr speaks worldwide at international conferences on business, design, and creativity and inside firms such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Apple, and universities including Stanford, Oxford and Keio.
Garr has written several best-selling books on presentation including Presentation Zen and The Naked Presenter, books which are translated into 20 languages. Say Media of New York City named Garr one of the 'Top 100 Most Influential Voices on the Internet' in 2011. He lives in the quiet countryside of Nara amidst the ubiquitous bamboo trees.
