Many would-be entrepreneurs dream of taking a successful business model from one country and starting it in Japan. But most let the opportunity slip away. Kevin McAuliffe will discuss how he adapted an American direct selling business to the Japanese market. Newport Ltd. (www.newportjapan.com), a company with more than 1,200 sales people and $50 million in gross revenue, occupies a unique niche in Japan: the company markets a number of successful products and outsources sales for some of Japan's largest consumer marketing companies. Having worked for multinationals including Time Inc. (Time-Warner) and Reuters (Thomson Reuters), McAuliffe also will describe why he left the stability of expat life for the risks and challenges of entrepreneurship. Lastly, he will discuss how one's skills and contacts from both large and small companies can significantly improve the chances of success when starting a company after 40.
NOTE 1: Due to space constraints, participation is restricted to members only and will be limited to the first twenty signups
NOTE 2: This meeting is OFF THE RECORD
