The corporate scandals that surfaced in Japan in 2011 have continued to
polarize public debate regarding corporate governance in 2012. Are the
public's and policymakers's calls for improvements in corporate
governance, fueled by the fear that foreign money will desert the
market, really being implemented? And is Japan's renewed focus on
corporate governance going to raise investment returns and prevent a
recurrence of significant scandals?

The Foreign Direct Investment Committee and the Banking and Finance
Committee will be hosting Mr. Masaki Shizuka, Senior Executive Officer
of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) and a Committee member of
Ministry of Justice Legislative Council Company Act Sub-Committee, to
speak about the recent reforms of TSE Listing Rules to enhance corporate
governance in Japan as well as the future direction of the discussions
at the Legislative Council Company Act Sub-Committee.

He will explain the background discussions and negotiations leading to
the amendments of Listing Rules as well as the latest developments at
the Legislative Council Company Act Sub-Committee, both of which are
aiming for the improvement of corporate governance in Japan.
