Meaningful use of consumer-driven information technologies, such as Cloud Computing, Social Media, Mobile and Big Data, is empowering quality of care among hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and pharmaceutical/medical equipment providers. Our lecture will give IT/non-IT professionals technical and managerial perspectives on 2012 trends in the Japan healthcare IT industry. Some practical case studies in Tohoku regions will also illustrate the potential of developing strategic alliances among disaster-damaged communities, IT professionals and healthcare entrepreneurs, to utilize new technologies for revitalization. Our Speaker, Dr. Eiji Sasahara, Vice-chair of Healthcare IT Subcommittee at the ACCJ and a Board Member of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Japan Chapter, is currently focusing on raising awareness and promoting initiatives for utilizing ICT in revitalization of Tohoku regions jointly with social enterprises. He holds a Ph.D. in Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences from Chiba University Graduate School of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Japan. His views on IT utilization issues have often been quoted by major publications such as Asahi Shimbun, Mainichi Shimbun, Nikkei Shimbun, Nikkei BP and Toyo Keizai.
