The ACCJ Internet Economy Task Force and the Keidanren ICT Committee are jointly hosting the US-Japan Internet Economy Dialogue Industry Forum on March 21. The Forum will feature keynote remarks by US Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy Ambassador Philip Verveer, presentations from senior Japanese and US business executives and comments from a distinguished panel of ICT experts. The Forum will be followed by a reception highlighted by opening remarks from a senior Japanese Cabinet official. Over the past two years, the US-Japan Internet Economy Dialogue has developed as a major channel for US-Japan economic and business cooperation. The first day is organized around an Industry Forum focusing on issues related to Internet regulation and development, including cloud services, cyber security, third country market access, e-government and IPv6 deployment. The results of this discussion will be reported out to US and Japan government representatives on day two and provide the framework for their engagement over the next day and one half. The three-day dialogue concludes with release of a statement outlining areas for cooperation as well as further discussion. The Dialogue was inaugurated by the two governments at the direct request of the ACCJ and its agenda reflects many of the concerns and expectations found in our 2009 Internet Economy White Paper. Continued industry involvement and support for the process is vital to the success of the Dialogue. We are anticipating attendance from a wide range of Japanese government, business, academic and media leaders in the ICT field and hope that we can have similarly strong representation from ACCJ member companies and individual members active in the Internet Economy.

Note: ACCJ events are for ACCJ members and their guests only. To learn more about becoming an ACCJ member, see the Membership section of this site or contact the Membership Services Department at info@accj.or.jp / (03) 3433-7304.
