On Wednesday, May 16, sixteen chambers of commerce and NPOs will present "Giving Back to Japan II: Community Leaders Report Out." This public forum, led by the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce in Japan, the Tohoku Planning Forum, and Hitotsubashi University ICS, features leaders of cities and towns across Tohoku.
Speakers include:
Mr. Kimiaki Toda, Mayor of Ofunato
Mr. Shigeru Sugawara, Mayor of Kesennuma
Mr. Kiichi Numazaki, Mayor of Yamada
Mr. Hidetoshi Watanabe, Mayor of Aizu Misato, and
Mr. Tsuneaki Iguchi, Mayor of Iwanuma
Peter Barakan, television and radio presenter, will guide a discussion about communities' efforts to rebuild; their ongoing needs; and the leaders' suggestions for ways individuals and organizations can help Tohoku recover.
