Japan's two largest political parties are holding elections for party leaderships in preparation for new elections expected within months, if not weeks. Will the results help these two establishment parties revive their sagging public support, or pave the way for advances by the new anti-Tokyo insurgents led by Osaka Mayor Hashimoto? What are the implications for U.S. business and U.S.-Japan relations overall?

Chris LaFleur, who has been watching Japanese politics for the U.S. government and for U.S. business clients since the 1970s will discuss the party elections results, the forecasts for the upcoming elections and their impact on Japan's prospects for renewed growth and global influence.
