Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency has proposed class action legislation which would be based upon claims under consumer contracts. The claims would be brought by specially qualified consumer organizations and adjudicated in a two-step process. While the system appears to avoid many of the significant problems of the U.S. system, Japanese and foreign business groups have expressed concerns.

Join Takashi Tanazawa, a Japanese lawyer who has also worked in the U.S. on class action matters, in a discussion of the proposed Japanese class action system and a presentation of steps that your business can take to protect itself.
