The Women in Business (WIB) Committee wants to hear from you on advocacy issues on childcare for working parents, and would like to join us in a buzz session small group discussion.

Last year, the Government of Japan appointed a multi-ministerial panel tasked with creating a new Government Agency for child care policy. On October 9, 2012, the ACCJ's Women in Business Committee issued a formal press release expressing our support, "That the Government has taken this important step to establish a multi-ministerial panel to create a new agency aiming to meet the needs of modern Japanese society in child care policy. The panel, drawing upon experts from within the Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Labor, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, will be tasked with reviewing policy options and will be looking to establish the new agency in two years time."

The ACCJ WIB Committee has expressed its concerns over finding convenient, affordable and trustworthy child care solutions, a basic accommodation necessary for most new mothers to return to work. We are planning to take our advocacy to the next level for 2013 with a childcare survey and a petition drive for local ward offices. We want to share this information and to hear from you.
