We are holding a planning meeting for our Committee. The aim of the meeting is to increase the responsiveness of our committee to your needs.

Indeed, 2012 was a great year with very well attended and popular events. But we want to do more, better. As such 2013 sees the change of our name to the "Sales Development Committee" (Effective as of January 2013).

This is a response to the feedback we have received suggesting we should widen our range of activities to support you better, and is based on the results of last year's survey as well as in depth discussion with ACCJ members at large as well as within the committee.

We now have the following mission:

1) Provide our Members with 2 Types of Events:

- Speaker events, where the speakers will share experience and information about the market they are evolve in, and how they succeeded, usually from a sales perspective.

- Workshops, where we will provide our members with the opportunity to brush up on, or learn new skills and methodologies for themselves or their teams.

2) The Sales Development Committee Survey:

- Once a year we will put a survey out to ACCJ Members focused on their needs and issues in the context of the sales environment in Japan. In 2012, only those who had answered received a copy of the results. As of 2013, committee members will receive it. 3) The Library:

The Sales Development Committee has a library of books available to members to read and borrow. The books focus on sales and related topics and can be found in the ACCJ office. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this free of charge service. Coming events include a speaker event (March/April) luncheon event on "the BIG sale-- your own company." The format for this event will be somewhat different -- An on-stage conversation with James Chen who recently sold his company to Rakuten and where our monitor and YOU will ask James some provocative questions that make you think, "Wow, I can't wait to hear how he answers this!" (Think James Lipton on PBS.) We are also planning on some workshops for legal issues, and hiring good sales people and lead generation techniques as well as account management.
