The ACCJ's Internet Economy Task Force Advocates with Japanese Industry Leaders

Last week, the ACCJ's Internet Economy Task Force, led by Yoshitaka Sugihara, Chair and Jim Foster, Vice Chair, joined voices with members of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) to issue recommendations to officials of both the U.S. and Japanese governments in the fourth meeting of the U.S.-Japan Policy Cooperation Dialogue on the Internet Economy, held in Washington, D.C.

The Dialogue, which was launched in 2010, has focused on challenges related to promoting cloud computing, enhancing the security of commercial networks and deepening U.S.-Japan cooperation and leadership on issues of Internet freedom and governance.

The business communities of the two countries have been active in the Dialogue from the start, with the ACCJ and Keidanren providing policy and logistical support.

The Dialogue formally kicked off on October 16 with a day and half industry-only session which was followed on the morning of the 18th with a joint session between business and government representatives from the U.S. and Japan. The two business communities presented a joint series of recommendations on cloud computing-related issues to the two governments during the meetings.
