One out of every two cross border M&A transactions in Asia fall victim to fraud according to a recent report, while similar studies have also indicated that on average frauds take longer to detect in Asia compared to anywhere else in the world. Japan is far from immune from the threat of fraud and recently ranked 17th, alongside Barbados, on a global corruption perceptions index indicating that much is to be done to improve compliance and corporate governance in Japanese corporations.

Despite the close attention of legal and compliance professionals, auditors and regulators, fraud remains one of the most problematic issues worldwide, and increasingly businesses must arm themselves against the ever-evolving threat of fraud.

Stuart Witchell, Senior Managing Director of FTI Consulting, has significant experience in the conduct of major fraud investigations, mobilizing highly qualified teams to investigate alleged misconduct in

Asia and around the world.

Stuart will discuss why the risks of fraud in Asia remain high and will highlight enabling factors to fraud. He will also provide advice on the effective detection and reaction to fraud including essential business controls.

Join us for a unique opportunity to hear directly from an experienced fraud investigator providing insights and recent case examples of fraud in Asia including issues related to the recent Chinese Reverse Takeovers of U.S. listed firms. Your questions are welcomed and encouraged.
