Dr. Richard Schlichting is an expert on distributed computing, fault tolerant and highly dependable systems and networks, with over 25 years experience as a computer scientist in both industry and academia. In his current position at AT&T, he manages core software-related research activities for the company, while maintaining his own active research program.
In his presentation, Dr. Schlichting will focus on cloud computing, a network-based approach to computing in which resources are shared and managed dynamically. He will give a very brief overview of cloud computing and then present several innovations developed at AT&T Labs that address various challenges associated with this technology.
