What to expect: Carrots and sticks are for donkeys.This workshop equips Japan-based managers with skills and sophistication to communicate effectively in complex global business environments. Activities are designed to develop managers? listening and questioning skills in order to promote greater awareness of alternative (cultural) viewpoints, and potential for more effective problem-solving. An inquiry style of management is offered as a compliment to command-and-control between Japan-based managers and their international teams. Global systems thinking provides a simple model for understanding the organization in a broader context of mutual relationship. Participants have the choice to observe and/or participate in facilitated role-plays, and to work 'live' with their own or others? real-time cases in English or bilingual English-Japanese discussion groups. Participants will learn: - How to use Chou listening skills & inquiry-style questioning - How to use awareness of alternative (cultural) viewpoints for problem-solving - The basics of global systems thinking What we will do: - Ice-melting partners: Meanings of a handshake. - Triads: Chou Listening & Sekkyokuteki questioning: How do you create and maintain trust? Coach, coachee, & note-taker rotate roles. What is your real-time global management case? - Role-play replay: Volunteer case/s from triads. Facilitated role-play to develop listening & questioning skills. - Fishbowl observers support with suggestions for re-plays. - Action Planning: Identifying existing opportunities to practice inquiry skills. About the Facilitator: Annette Karseras coaches global leaders and teams for high performance, a resilient global mindset, and to achieve their personal aspirations. Annette has worked with clients from over 15 countries and began her career working with cross-European teams on organizational learning and change. Annette uses a wide range of proven models, coaching tools, and concrete examples to make her approach insightful, practical and accessible. She is a member of the International Coaching Federation, and has trained with the Coach Training Institute and SOL's Systems Perspectives.
