The ACCJ Chubu Chapter's Women in Business Committee invites you to join us on May 18, 2012 (Friday) at the Nagoya Hilton from 7 to 9 pm for the second casual event in our Open Talk Series: How About Me?
For most of human history, women have been excluded from the formal working world of having careers and earning money. In spite of that, throughout history there are great examples of women whose lives and accomplishments demonstrate the basic life skills that are key career skills which, even today, women must employ if they are to have successful careers. So, what can we learn from these women of the past? Vicki Beyer will highlight 5 key life skills/career skills and describe how some historical women used those skills with great success. Our special guest, ACCJ Vice President and WIB Board Liaison Vicki Beyer, has come a long way from the Nebraska farm where she spent her childhood. Having spent more than 20 of the past 30 years in Japan, she is a former legal academic who now works as an in-house lawyer providing employment law and corporate governance advice for the Morgan Stanley group of companies in Japan. She actively works to promote the interests of working women within her company as well as through her involvement in the ACCJ and many other Tokyo-based professional women's organizations. In her spare time she likes to read and travel. She has published a number of travel articles as well as a guide book on Kamakura. So, come and join us as we welcome Vicki to Nagoya and engage in some stimulating discussions! Registration deadline is May 15th. If you cancel after the deadline, you will be charged in full.
Note: ACCJ events are for ACCJ members and their guests only. To learn more about becoming an ACCJ member, see the Membership section of this site or contact the Membership Services Department at info@accj.or.jp / (03) 3433-7304.
