Investments in innovative health technologies drive a virtual positive cycle of benefits including a more productive citizenry able to contribute more in terms of higher consumption, higher taxes, while driving more investments from companies into research and development. The government is in a position to make healthcare an engine for growth by increasing the country's health care budget and providing appropriate rewards for innovation that encourage companies to further invest.

Another aspect of healthcare reform that is being discussed is the role that Health Technology Assessments (HTA) plays in appropriately valuing medicines, health technologies and services. Boston Consulting Group will share their professional view on a proposed healthcare framework and HTA system for Japan based on the research results conducted in partnership with the Japan-based Pharmaceutical Research Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).

Main Topics

* Proposed Healthcare framework for a healthier and economically vibrant Japan
* HTA in Japan and the opportunity for further enhancement
