The Asia Business and Foreign Direct Investment Committees would like to welcome Mr. Rajiv Biswas, Senior Director and Asia Chief Economist at IHS, to speak on the potential risks the global economy may face in
2013. Despite the financial meltdown in 2008, and the subsequent and ongoing debt crisis within the Eurozone, the Asia-Pacific economy has held together quite well as the region continues to grow and underpin the global supply chain. Over the last four years, the global economy has had the coordinated support of many governments and central banks, each with a stake in maintaining stability. Will 2013 be the year that the train gets derailed? Could the Eurozone fragment, or could territorial disputes lead to confrontations between countries in the Asia region?
Mr. Biswas coordinates economic analysis and forecasts for the Asia-Pacific region, and is a contributor to the IHS global forecast. He has previously worked as Director for South-East Asia for The Economist Group, and was Executive Director for Asia-Pacific Country Risk and Director and Senior Economist for International Public Policy and Group Economic Research at UBS covering the Asia-Pacific region.
