2020 Tokyo Olympics Task Force - 国際応援団チーム

The ACCJ is fielding a team to support the effort by Tokyo to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. Tokyo is vying for the right to host the Games in competition with Madrid and Istanbul, and a decision will be made by the IOC in September.

The mission of the team, which takes the form of a task force, given the short duration and intensive activities planned, is as follows:

• Provide supportive statements and advocacy vis-à-vis relevant U.S., Japanese and/or international stakeholders, including foreign embassies in Japan. This may include issuing "viewpoints" and/or other short policy papers, to offer the ACCJ's support, including Tokyo's charm points and key messages as to why it should be chosen.
   
• Generate positive goodwill among Japan's political and business leaders for our broader Japanese advocacy efforts by offering support for the Tokyo 2020 bid.
   
• Hold a regular program of special events, perhaps in collaboration with other foreign chambers and other non-ACCJ organizations, around the Olympics bid, sports figures, business of sports, etc. to beat a drum roll of excitement by ACCJ members and others leading up to the September announcement of the decision.

The ACCJ Tokyo Olympic Task Force is open to all members with all levels of experience; Interested members are invited to join the Task Force for this kick-off meeting.
