The Government Relations Committee has as its mandate coordinating relations between the Chamber and the Japanese government. In that context, it sponsors forums that increase member understanding of issues that impact their business and works with other committees in the Chamber to bring issues of concern to the attention of Japanese government leaders. Among the committee's major activities is the management each year of the Diet Doorknock. This year's Doorknock resulted in over 60 meetings with Diet members in the government and opposition parties and allowed the Chamber to effectively highlight its positions supporting economic reform and growth in Japan.
Objectives
- Member education: current issues, best practices in advocacy & policy formation
- Relationships: USG and GOJ, political and ministerial
