THE POWER OF POSITIVE POLITICS - Political savvy is an elusive and critical leadership competency, much in demand but rarely cultivated... This workshop focuses on political savvy, a leadership skill critical to relationship management, perception management and self management. With each career transition, managers need to move beyond technical skills, to develop and leverage interconnections and vast networks operating across the organization. This workshop focuses on social capital and the power of positive politics. Participants will hone their skills in: -Actively Managing Perception -Building an Integrated Web of Connections The workshop uses a case study to underscore the importance of savvy and a short assessment instrument designed to evaluate credibility and visibility when focusing on current or future positions. Using small group discussion and personal reflection, the participants will determine the right strategy for building social capital within their organizations and their function. In doing so, participants will also reflect on the impact of national and organizational culture on their individual strategies. This workshop provides multiple benefits - bringing to the surface the nuances of organizational life, knowing what is being said, and understanding the role of networks to promote ideas, build careers and drive efficiencies. Using these skills as an anchor, the participants will understand the broader aspects and requirements impacting leadership. While not explicitly stated, the session creates a culture of inclusiveness, and the exercises and discussions are designed to bring the group to a different level of understanding. The participants leave with tips, techniques on career management and awareness of self as a leader.
