Originally from the U.S., Patrick Newell first came to Japan in 1991. He planned on living in Japan for five years with the main objective of balancing his Western thinking with an Eastern way of thinking. While interviewing for variety of positions, he accepted an offer to join his wife in running two English language schools and became very interested in education and its practical real world relevance.
Mr. Newell is the co-founder of TEDxTokyo, the Tokyo International School, IMPACT Japan and Living Dreams, a non-profit organization that helps over 3,000 orphans from over 50 children's homes in Japan.
