3.11 marks the second anniversary of the disasters in Tohoku. The ACCJ and many member companies responded by providing funds, volunteers, and in-kind donations to those in need. However, there was often a time-lag between the decision to provide aid and actually getting the necessary resources to those affected by the disasters. In some cases companies were not aware of what resources they had on hand or who could decide to release said resources. In other cases it was not clear where to send the aid once it had been identified internally.

With proper planning and preparations in place, companies can be more effective and respond quicker to the next disaster. Today's topic will begin a discussion of how companies can prepare to respond quicker and more effectively to the next disaster by incorporating best practices.
