Event Recap: Does Japan Really Intend to Join the TPP Negotiations?

The ACCJ welcomed Professor Yorizumi Watanabe (Professor of International Political Economy at Keio University) and Risaburo Nezu (Senior Executive Fellow at Fujitsu Research Institute) to debate the question on the minds of so many people inside and outside Japan, “Does Japan really intend to join the TPP negotiations?”
To set the stage for the discussion, Professor Watanabe provided a review of Japan’s history with regard to economic partnership agreements (EPAs) and Mr. Nezu followed up with key insights into the decision-making process as Japan considers this important multi-lateral trade agreement.
ACCJ member, Ambassador Larry Greenwood, built on his own experience in the region – including serving as U.S. Ambassador to APEC – and moderated an interactive discussion with the guest speakers.
