An update from Professor Fukao, who provides intellectual capital for the ACCJ Growth Strategy Task Force (GSTF) and the Japanese government.
Since 2010, "growth" has become an even more pressing topic worldwide. In this event, Professor Fukao will summarize his findings and update them in view of the many things that have occurred since 2010, provide insights on the prospects for "Abenomics," and recalibrate our thinking about the revitalization of Japan for 2013 and beyond. His presentation will be followed by a panel discussion led by GSTF Chair Nicholas Benes, with the Professor, ACCJ President Larry Bates and key GSTF leaders exchanging fresh ideas and brainstorming about what policy steps are needed most urgently in Japan.
In 2010, Hitotsubashi University Professor Kyoji Fukao conducted ground-breaking research for the ACCJ to identify the root causes of Japan's 20-year economic slump, and the drivers of the growth that did occur. His insightful analysis not only set the base for ACCJ Growth Strategy Task Force's White Paper, but also influenced Japanese policy, and became a book that received Japan's most prestigious award (the Nikkei Prize) for books about economics. Professor Fukao also became an (even more) trusted advisor to the Japanese government and the OECD.
