The ACCJ Tohoku Earthquake Information Facilitation Project's working

team has finished a series of short Pulse Surveys of the Japanese and

foreign business communities aimed at understanding evolving attitudes

and possible differences of opinion on issues related to the earthquake.

Hear the results of the surveys, covering the following five key areas.

- Business operations and return to normalcy;

- Energy concerns and impact on personal and working lives;

- Food safety practices and comfort level with scientific-based evidence

being provided;

- Degree of practicing jishuku (self-restraint) and anticipated return

to normalcy; and

- Government response.

We are extremely fortunate to have the Honorable Banri Kaieda, Minister

of Economy, Trade and Industry, address ACCJ members and guests with

a brief speech at the opening of this event.

Thanks to our Gold Sponsors, Japan Market Resource Network and Rakuten,

as well as the sponsorship of numerous foreign chambers of commerce and

other affiliated business organizations, results were drawn from nearly

3,000 participants over three discrete periods following the crisis:

April 26-27, May 11-12, and May 30-31, 2011. Hear how these results

split on demographic lines and evolved over time.

As an added bonus, Clas Bystedt from the Foreign Chambers of Commerce of

Japan, will present a short summary of the Joint Chambers of Commerce

Business Confidence Survey. Together these two surveys will give you a real

time view of current attitudes towards business, government policy, consumer

spending and the economy among both Japanese and foreign respondents.

This is a not-to-miss event for all those who want to know if Japan

still has a pulse after the crisis, and it is a great opportunity to

meet like-minded professionals from other business organizations.
