Tim Coomber in his three decades of living in Japan has mastered the art of the start-up business. Building on his corporate experience in multinationals across several industries,Tim founded his own business process outsourcing firm IN CONTROL in 2000, grew the business successfully, and attracted the attention of a buyer to which he sold the business in 2007. Tim then established PlatformOne KK, through which he offers his expertise in business growth to the world. In addition, Tim is one of two partners in Japan Business Class, offering master classes in starting and running a business in Japan for those who want to hit the ground running. Tim is quick to confide that he achieved all this without having mastered the Japanese language, dispelling the myth that Japanese language is essential for business success in Japan.
This event will be an informal roundtable discussion with Tim Coomber. Independent Business Committee (IBC) Vice-Chair Steven Bleistein will lead a conversation with Tim, and allow plenty of time for questions from participants. The IBC encourages participants to take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn from Tim's vast experience and deep expertise. This will be a valuable discussion for anyone considering starting a business or currently growing a business in Japan. There are lessons to be learned for both foreign and Japanese entrepreneurs.
