Business continuity planning (BCP) is working out how to stay in business in the event of a disruption in business, whether it be localized (like a fire in your office) or more far ranging (such as the serious events in Tohoku). The Tohoku disaster and its knock-on effects have been a trigger for many foreign and Japanese companies to assess BCP to ensure future events are handled smoothly with little operational risk.
This special ACCJ event will pull together experts from various fields who will share with our members how the recent events have changed the corporate strategies used in BCP and how to be best prepared when a crisis occurs in the future. Included will be how to manage an extended crisis (such as the current nuclear/power situation), identification and turn-up of alternative sites, and bridging cultural gaps between Japanese and foreign employees and management.
