Social media has played an extremely important role after the series of disasters starting from 3/11. One of the many things individuals and companies have been learning through the process is how social media can be utilized for social good, reconnecting missing people, allocating resources, collecting donations, etc.
Hiroyasu Ichikawa, social media consultant of SocialCompany, Inc., will introduce the frontline of the growing movement of social media used for doing good at NPOs, governments, and companies, showcasing cutting edge campaigns, social media sites in the context of CSR, cause-related marketing, philanthropy, and beyond.
Hiroyasu Ichikawa is president and social media consultant of SocialCompany, Inc. He is a weekly columnist of "Social Business Frontline" at Kodansha' Gendai Business and a frequent speaker on social media for social good, social entrepreneurship, and CSR. He is the founder and president of NetSquared Tokyo, a local chapter of a global professional networking group, which aims to empower organization with the power of social media since 2009. Graduating from Doshisha University and Amherst College, he had spent 7 years in the U.S., while exploring and archiving the growing trend of socially minded media and entrepreneurship at his blog for the last 11 years.
Rosa Yum is the Senior Manager, Multimedia, of PR Newswire. She is here to open the Japanese office and introduce the many ways companies can tell their stories to the world. Yum is an award-winning former journalist known for her abilities to work across borders and cultures to add value to each stage, from concept through implementation of communications programs, and to swiftly assimilate content and issues in a broad range of health, environmental, political and other areas. Yum is the ideal person to talk to about sending messages or stories out to the world. She was part of the ACCJ team that headed to Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, on June 2 - 5 for voluntary relief efforts and is now actively using social media to spread her company's CSR efforts. Graduating from the University of California, Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism, Yum has effortlessly crossed over to partner with Fortune 500 companies in managing their messaging directions in the new media.
