With the recent passage of the America Invents Act ("AIA"), the U.S. patent system underwent its most significant overhaul in over a decade. Learn about the major changes, why those changes were made, and how they might affect your business. David Simon, Intel's Associate General Counsel, has been working on the patent overhaul efforts for nine years. He is intimately familiar with the history of the AIA and its provisions. David has served as Intel's Chief Patent Counsel and Director of Intellectual Property. He has also supported a number of major business and product groups in his 14 years at Intel. Prior to joining Intel, David was a shareholder at Spensley Horn Jubas & Lubitz, Los Angeles, where he focused on IP litigation, IP licensing, high tech transactional work, and patent procurement. He is a member of the executive committee of the Intellectual Property Owners Association and a member of the IP Advisory Council for George Washington University Law School. David holds a JD, cum laude, from Georgetown University, and SB Electrical Engineering and SB Political Science degrees from MIT.
