More than 7 months have passed since the earthquake and tsunami

devastated the Tohoku area. Relief efforts quickly started and peaked

during the Golden Week holiday. Since then volunteerism has fallen

steadily while much difficult recovery remains to be done. If you have

already volunteered in Tohoku, would you do it again? If you haven't

gone up yet, how should you get involved? Is there anything you can do

from Tokyo?

Join us to hear about the volunteer experiences from people who have

given their time both in Tohoku and from Tokyo and learn what is still

needed as Tohoku moves forward with a long reconstruction phase. A panel

discussion with Charles McJilton from Second Harvest Japan, and other

organizations/individuals, will present their past, current and future

efforts in volunteering, aiming to share some lessons learned and

regenerate interest in giving back to the community.

Efforts encompass not just physical volunteering but also knowledge

sharing for businesses that need assistance too. The panel discussion

will be followed by a cocktail networking party where organizations like

Second Harvest Japan, Peace Boat, NADIA, and representatives from Hands

On Tokyo (HOT), HOPE International Development Agency, Habitat for

Humanity and Japan Emergency Network will be available to explain more

about how you can participate in their relief/reconstruction activities.
