ACCJ-Kansai Presents: Differences in Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship in America and Japan

Carl Kay spoke about his experience as an entrepreneur and how starting, owning and being accountable for an entire business operation made him realize what qualities an entrepreneur required to be successful. He also talked about the differences between the venture business environment in the U.S. and Japan.

One major difference he mentioned was the hands-on management style of U.S. venture capitalists compared to the investor-only style commonly found in Japan. Carl is an experienced entrepreneur and consultant who works with services sector companies in the US and Japan to develop new markets, new capabilities and new partnerships. He has recently started consulting for Fast Retailing Co., Ltd.
