Featured Committee: ACCJ Kansai Business Programs Committee
The ACCJ Kansai Business Programs Committee continually provides engaging and meaningful programs to the constituents of ACCJ Kansai, targeting both large companies and individual members.
Our key objective for 2012 is to provide monthly “Hot Topics” and quarterly “Leadership” presentations that exceed the standard which the ACCJ is known for. Some of the events that we have hosted in 2012 include:
- Leadership in Entrepreneurial Ventures, by our own Michael Alfant
- Differences in Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship in America and Japan, by Carl Kay
- Business Lessons in Service and Professionalism from the Traditional World of the Kyoto Maiko & Geiko, by Kumiko Nishio
- The Power of Brand You: Using Your Personal Brand for Career Success, by Peter Sterlacci
- Special Event with the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry: Lessons in Leadership & Hospitality from the World of Michelin, by Bernard Delmas
- Leadership Lessons from Steve Jobs, by Garr Reynolds
- Education, Learning in the 21st Century: What Every Business Professional or Parent needs to Know, by Hirokazu Osako
As seen in the list above, we have put a strong emphasis on leadership development for small business owners/entrepreneurs as well as for future leaders of larger companies. Recently, we addressed both target audiences in our event “Leadership Lessons from Steve Jobs,” by our own Garr Reynolds. Over 150 members, representing 21 different nations, attended this event and here is what they told us in the post-event survey: “Very engaging and inspiring presentation.”; “Useful and entertaining. Perfect combination!”; “This was one of the best seminars I ever attended”; “Great overall atmosphere and intriguing presentation.”; “Very motivational and informative on how Steve Jobs thought and led his very able team.”; “Excellent contents, very professional preparation, good interaction with the audience.”
We look forward to further bringing inspiring programs to our members. Our next event, on July 19, 2012 (19:00~), will feature Dr. Maki Sugimoto. Dr. Sugimoto is a surgeon, as well as Associate Professor at Kobe University and University of Tokyo. He also led the world's first iPad-aided surgery, which was captured on video and seen by many on YouTube. If you are in the Kansai region on July 19, please don’t miss “How Technology is Transforming the Medical Profession and the Lives of Patients,” featuring Dr. Sugimoto. Please refer to the ACCJ event calendar for full event details.
