HEALTHCARE AND PRODUCTIVITY OF THE WORK FORCE 18 Nov 09 : Sean Sullivan, President of the Institute for Health and Productivity Management in the United States, is a leader in working with employers to improve their employees' health and maximize its impact on business performance. In this presentation to ACCJ members, Mr. Sullivan discussed how carefully targeted investments in employee health can produce measurable returns in the form of increased productivity -- as global leaders like Dow Chemical and Intel are proving around the world. THE ENTREPRENEURS FORUM/TALKING BUSINESS SERIES 17 Nov 09 : The recipient of the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan's inaugural British Business Award for Best Entrepreneur, Caroline Pover, President, Caroline Pover, Inc., founded the Being A Broad network, started her own publishing business, Alexandra Press, and took on and revamped Weekender magazine and later sold it. In this presentation, ACCJ members learned how she set up and grew her businesses, how they were affected by the strokes Caroline suffered in 2006 and 2007, and how she ultimately emerged from the experience a better entrepreneur! HATOYAMA ADMINISTRATION'S POLICY AND ITS IMPACT ON KANSAI ECONOMY (Kansai Event) 17 Nov 09 : Mr. Masahiro "Mike" Nagao of KISER took on questions concerning the Hatoyama administration's policy and it's impact on the Kansai economy. KISER is a private, non-profit think tank which proposes policy ideas to economic groups like Kankeiren and the governments in Kansai. 16 Nov 09 : Looking to the future, emerging technologies such as Voice over WiFi promise to factor prominently into IT roadmaps. Ray Teske, Leader, ASEAN Sales and Russia and President, Nortel Japan, discussed the variety of solutions available and some specific examples of how customers have solved their problems using their existing investments as the base. Mr. Teske's presentation also looked at key transformational opportunities emerging to support improvements around personal productivity (speedier contact), group performance (collaboration), business productivity areas, improved asset management and enhanced customer relations. |
